Kim is a distinguished educational leader with sixteen years of experience. Her career spans critical roles as a classroom teacher, school administrator, and instructional consultant, providing her with a deep understanding of the educational landscape and the vital importance of institutional support. She has specialized in systematic coaching of faculty and driving pedagogical excellence. She remains dedicated to developing instructional frameworks that enhance teacher efficacy while addressing the evolving needs of diverse students. Her professional passion lies in facilitating transformative breakthroughs for colleagues.

         

Her teaching career began in 1997 as an English as a Second Language (ESOL) specialist in the Philadelphia School District, where she supported middle school students from historically marginalized backgrounds. From 2007 to 2014, she served as a kindergarten educator at a private institution in Philadelphia’s Chinatown; notably, 100% of her students achieved grade-level reading benchmarks under her guidance. 

 

In 2016, she transitioned into leadership as the Elementary School Expansion Coordinator for Esperanza Academy, subsequently serving as the founding principal from 2017 to 2019. In these roles, she established a cohesive instructional methodology that resulted in a 90% faculty retention rate and full student matriculation. After moving to Atlanta in 2020, she served as Assistant Head at GLOBE Academy, focusing on faculty development and restorative practices. As the Assistant Principal and Interim Principal at Georgia Fugees Academy (GFACS), she oversaw the implementation of pedagogical best practices and the translation of curricular goals into effective classroom strategies.

 

In 2024, she joined Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as a Literacy Instructional Coach, utilizing her expertise in curriculum design and mentorship to improve instructional quality and student outcomes.

 

Her academic background includes a Principal Certification and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, alongside a Master of Education from Temple University. She holds an Educational Leadership Certificate, an Elementary Education Certificate, and an ESOL Endorsement from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
