The Impact of Reflection

I have had the opportunity to work under Ms. Chung for 2 years. In that time, she showed herself as a dedicated assistant principal and later principal committed to working with teachers to develop a team mindset working towards a similar pattern of serving young learners. In her capacity as leader, she single handedly dedicated a few of her weekends to organize curriculum by grade, skill and lexile levels. She further supported teaching staff by offering valuable training during Professional Development sessions. These sessions enhanced the way we approached teaching English and reading. From these hands on and interactive sessions Ms. Chung modeled and then had us role play methods such as small group and self monitoring. It did not stop there. Ms. Chung visited classrooms to see their implementation in action. The strategies were beneficial in because they not only boosted student confidence, they improved student engagement, their willingness to share and ask questions and resulted in better outcomes in classroom management as well as formal and informal testing. To sum up, Ms Chung is a results-driven professional who embraces a growth mindset that drives teacher improvement.
